East Coast Day 4 - Hentian R&R Titiwangsa, Gerik, Lenggong Archaeology Museum, Ipoh

Today we're going to spend a lot time on the road. Driving up from Kota Bharu to Ipoh, stop by Gerik and Lenggong for short break. Breakfast is thus very important and we decided to go to the infamous Kopitiam Kita.

Lo and behold.... It's closed due to puasa. =,=
Out of no choice we went to Kebun Sultan Foodcourt. 龍記 pork burger is still my favourite.

After recharged we hit on the road. Strangely enough, the gps avoided the Timur-Barat Highway and led me through some windy mountain roads. Barely seen any other vehicles on the road. We rolled down the windows to enjoy the fresh and chill air in the moutain.

Few hours on the road we stopped by Hentian R&R Titiwangsa. This site is near the top of the hill and the view here is splendid. This is the kind of the place where epic photo was born.

Another few hours on the road we had reached Gerik. We drove through the sleeping town slowly and found a place to have our lunch. Gerik town is build beside the moutain. It used to be an important transport hub as to the east it connects Kelantan and to the north Kedah. But since automotive capacity improved and alternative roads were built, the town's growth was stunted.

Next we drove to a remote place called Lenggong just to visit Lenggong Archaeological Museum. The Museum is located in such a remote place that we had not seen any other visitors during our 1.5 hours visit.

Opening hour as photo below. Entry is free of charge.

This museum held pre-history archaeological findings in upstream Perak.

Stone and copper tools.

Such huge earthenware and copper ware. What are they for?

Some more artifacts.

And finally, this is the main reason for our visit - the infamous Perak man. Perak man is the oldest skeletal remains found in Malaysia to date, which is dated to around 11,000 years. The perak man is of Australo-Melanesians descent, which refers to the negros indigenous to Papua and Australia.

We reached Ipoh around 6 p.m.. Took some rest and went out 7:30p.m. for dinner near Taman Jubilee. For first timer, Taman Jubilee is the place you should visit during night time. There are many famous restaurant around here and we had Ho noodle with raw egg 月光河粉 at Tuck Kee (德記). They add a raw egg on top of the hot Ho noodle. The taste is really... RAW and probably I won't order next time. 😶
