East Coast Day 2 - Dungun Museum, Taman Tamadun Islam, Crystal Mosque, Kuala Terengganu China Town, Pulau Warisan

We woke up early in the morning and went hunting for food.
We went to Paramount Restaurant near Pasar Besar Kuantan for Teochew Lai Noodle (潮州瀨粉).
This is my first time having Lai Noodle. Lai Noodle are short and thick, made from rice flour. The gravy is mixed of ketchup and vinegar, so it's a bit sour. Don't particularly like the taste but I think it's okay if you just want to try the dish. I have never seen Lai noodle sold around Selangor and KL before.

We hit on the road heading to Kuala Terengganu taking East Coast Highway.
The East Coast Highway is dual lanes with few traffic and the road condition is quite good.
We made a stop at Dungun, planning to visit Dungun Museum. Unfortunately the museum is closed due to puasa period. Bummer.

Museum opening time. Make sure to check or call before visiting.

Just behind Dungun Museum there is a beach. We bought some fruits from roadside stall and have it there while enjoying the sea view.

Not much people visit this beach and it looks rather primitive.

Upon reaching Kuala Terengganu, our first stop is Taman Tamadun Islam.
Again, due to puasa the site is not opening. 😑
But some of the areas are open for public and we still get to snap a few photos before leaving with disappointment.

Kuala Terengganu river and jetty at opposite bank.

Crystal Mosque is in the vicinity of Taman Tamadun Islam.

Next we had lunch at Madam Bee's Kitchen (美夫人原鄉館) near Kuala Terengganu Chinatown.
For Kuala Terengganu Chinatown I'm not sure if it's because of puasa there're not much crowd or not much tourist go to that place from the starting.
At Kuala Terengganu Chinatown, you can see some typical old shop-houses. I am of the impression this is the main activity area of local Chinese as Chinese are only 4% of the total population in Kuala Terengganu I was told.

Back to the food we had. Madam Bee's Kitchen offers local East Coast Malay food, cooked by local Malay. The tauke is Chinese tho. Food is fine, just the price is a little higher than average.

My mum had Nasi Kerabu.

Laksa Terengganu that I had.

After lunch we check in our hotel and had a nap.
Around 5 we drove to Pulau Warisan for the river view

Terengganu river bank, it really looks like at the beach.

There's a jetty at the opposite of river bank.

I took a video of the boat gently sailing down the stream.

Many Malay families gathering here along with their food waiting for break fast.

We stayed there until sunset. After that we went to Chinatown for some pork rice. This is the only place in the town you can get pork.
